Small-scale aquaculture module with a ras system and plankton kreisel to supply Loxechinus albus seed to artisanal fishers in coastal desert communities.
Code: PROYECTO ANID IT23I0016
Director: Dra. Yanett Leyton

In Chile, different efforts have been made to cultivate red sea urchin, however, in the North, the sustainable development of this resource has not yet been achieved. In an effort to promote aquaculture in the region, we propose to design a protocol for the development of a culture of larvae and seeds of Red Sea Urchin Loxechinus albus in a small-scale aquaculture module grown in plankton kreisel ponds with a RAS system to supply seeds to artisanal fishermen in coastal-desert communities.
